Paul Shields – Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine, Massage
Paul studied Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture at the Australian College of Natural Medicine in Fortitude Valley. After intensively completing his Advanced Diploma of Acupuncture in 2007, he moved into full time work while finishing his degree in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs & Chinese Remedial Massage at ACNM in 2008. During this time Paul also furthered his knowledge through completing post graduate courses in the following areas: Certificate in Japanese Acupuncture – Manaka Protocols, Certificate in Japanese Acupuncture and Fertility, and Certificate in Constitutional Acupuncture Facial Renewal. Paul has a specific interest and understanding in sports and musculo-skeletal injuries, stemming from his history in various sports. He also has an interest in fertility issues and women’s health, which responds very well with the style of acupuncture Paul uses.
Personally, Paul has a long history in sports such as mountain biking, golf, basketball, weight training, as well as stress and anxiety – thereby having the innate ability to advise on different treatment strategies, modalities and/or exercises that may need to be incorporated into the treatment, for maximal recovery to health in minimal time.
Paul also attends various acupuncture workshops to continuously update his knowledge on treatment techniques. He also uses a mixed style of massage, which is a combination of Chinese Remedial Massage (Tui Na) and Resistance Stretching (Sotai). If deemed necessary, this is often combined with acupuncture within the one treatment. Alongside specialised treatment, tailor made for each patient, Paul combines his medical knowledge of the body with years of his own fitness training experience to suggest appropriate fitness and dietary plans which are designed to enhance the rate of recovery – and yes this does apply for those of you coming in for weight loss.
Pauls professional training credentials include:
- Certificate in Japanese Acupuncture – Manaka Protocols
- Certificate in Japanese Acupuncture – East Asian Needle Therapy (Toyohari)
- Certificate in Japanese Acupuncture – Gynecological Problems, Fertility Management
- Certificate in Japanese Acupuncture – Immune Strategies
- Certificate in Constitutional Acupuncture Facial Renewal
- Certificate in Biomesotherapy/Biopuncture
