Your clinic visit explained
Welcome & Parking
We have off street parking at both of our locations. You will be greeted at the front of the store by a team member who will provide you with a consent form to read over before we begin.
Your history
Your osteopath will ask you specific questions in order to get a deeper understanding on what’s going on and how we can help you reach your health goals. We will ask about what’s going on that bought you here, where you want to get to with your health, your health and injury history and what your current lifestyle looks like.
Your assessment
You will then be asked to perform certain movements and tests to confirm a diagnosis. These can include performing simple movements to assess range of movement, strength testing and identifying areas of tenderness. If necessary, we will use special tests to assess things like blood flow, nerve function, balance and reflexes.
Treatment Plan & Consent
Before we begin treatment (if safe to do so) we will explain what is going on and detail our recommendations on what needs to be done to resolve it. We will explain the techniques that we recommend applying, give you an opportunity to ask any questions, and receive your consent before progressing.
Treatment
We will explain our recommended techniques and only use those that you are comfortable with, and you have an opportunity to discuss this with us along the way.
Our treatment may include massage, specific joint stretching, manipulation, cranio-sacral technique, visceral manipulation or other gentle techniques. We can work directly or indirectly on organs or on your nerves. We may offer dry needling if we feel that may be beneficial. We may use kinesiology taping to support the body area to regain its function, to improve blood flow and reduce pain.
Recommendations
At the conclusion of your treatment, we will show you any exercises that we recommend you do to progress your recovery. We will provide you with a comprehensive written treatment plan that you can take home that details our recommendations around home management and any lifestyle advice that is appropriate. We will explain your journey to recovery including clear next steps like when we need to see you next and how long we expect it to take to have you back on track.
We know (from what our patient's tell us in their first session) that what is missing from most people's experience in alternative health care is an understanding of why the symptoms are actually there and what to do about it. We make time to explain to our patients why they are experiencing their symptoms so they really understand what is going on and what to do about it. We then go to work to resolve these issues so our patients can return to the things they love the most.
If this sounds like the thorough approach you have been searching for then give us a call on 32088308. We would love to hear from you.
